Hello, I'm Madeleine Berger Holzman 

I started Originata because I missed the kind of shopping that feels like an experience; unhurried and joyful, like hanging out with your favorite people.

Somewhere along the way, retail lost its soul. So many stores and brands are now run by investors optimizing for margins, not for the people who actually walk through the door. I wanted to build something that felt like the opposite of that, a place with warmth and genuine personality.

I spent 15 years working across the fashion and lifestyle industries; outfitting customers in high end denim, activewear, and learning all about natural products. I know how great things are made, how they reach the right people, and what makes a brand truly worth caring about. I have always loved working at places that had a real point of view.

At Originata, every single thing we carry is chosen on purpose. I look for local makers, women-led brands, and natural fibers, because I believe the way something is made matters just as much as how it looks. You should feel good in what you wear, inside and out.

I'm also a big entertainer at heart. I love the energy of people gathered together, sharing a meal, discovering something new. That spirit is baked into how I think about the shop, I want every visit to feel like you've been welcomed in instead of sold to.
